Continuing the Adventure #2

Welcome to the second issue of the Continuing the Adventure Newsletter.

If you're new to the mailing list, you can read the first issue here:

Last month we talked about the beginnings of Our Adventure Continues, back when it was called Variety Smack.

We talked about the title and even showed you the first strip.

So let's do more of the same this month.

But first, a message from Harold Jennett, artist and co-writer of Our Adventure Continues.

As I said last month, Harold stays pretty busy just working on the strip, so it's not too often that we get to hear from the man . . . so savor this moment, people . . . savor it:

I just want to thank everyone who's been reading the webcomic.

It's been a challenge to get 2 strips done a week, and it's also hard to be patient. To wait while your audience slowly grows.

But it IS growing, and I'm thankful for each and every one of you.

Brainstorming!

The first strip that we posted for Variety Smack was called Brainstorming, which you can find in the link above.

Strip Number Two was called, More Brainstorming and like Strip One, was inspired by real life events.

See, once Harold and I had decided we were going to do the strip, the next step was to start coming up with ideas.

But the thing is, when Harold and I get to talking about all the stuff we want to do, creatively, Harold has this amazing ability to fire off idea after idea like bullets from a gun. While I do not.

I mean, I have good ideas, the same as Harold, but mine require a bit of thinking. I can't just rattle them off. Harold has ten good ideas for every one of mine.

Because of this, I have a tendency to mask my inability to come up with worthwhile ideas with any kind of quickness by spouting off whatever nonsensical crap that sprouts up in my head.

Meanwhile, Harold is still issuing forth with all these great ideas. So, though I envy this ability of Harold's, I continue to spout off whatever nonsensical crap that sprouts up in my head because I know that deep down, it makes Harold sigh with a slight tinge of regret that he ever chose to work with me in the first place.

Hey, we all have our ways we amuse ourselves, right?

Strip Number Three was titled, Even More Brainstorming and ties back to Strip One (which of course you've read already, right? The link is just up there, what are you waiting for?)

Strip Three really gets to the heart of the matter, and the true purpose behind Variety Smack, exposing the secrets in America!

Okay, not really.

This is where I leave you until next month.

Until then, when you get the chance, check out our respective websites.

Next month we will talk about the Halloween gag I've always wanted to tell, and prove to you that horse's can talk.

In the meantime, keep visiting Our Adventure Continues every Tuesday and Thursday for new strips.
